Wyatt: a young patriot

WORKING ON BEHALF OF PUEBLO

Sal Pace is the most experienced candidate for the state legislature. Sal has been working on legislation and policy for the citizens of Pueblo for the better part of a decade as a chief aide in both the Colorado State House and in the US Congress.

While an aide at the Colorado General Assembly, Sal worked diligently to help craft Basin-of-origin water protection bill. Sal was John Salazar's top negotiator, bringing together a bipartisan state-wide coalition to protect rural Colorado from urban water speculators. While that bill failed by a mere three votes, it propelled Sal to a leadership role on important water policy issues.

While at the state legislature, Sal also helped draft a key health care reform bill, creating a bulk purchasing pool for pharmaceuticals that would have cut the cost of prescription drugs for seniors and low income Coloradans.

In 2006, Sal was John Salazar's Campaign Manager. He has worked closely with Democrats across the state.

COLORADO ROOTS

Sal is the youngest of nine children. He has been a resident of Southern Colorado since he was a teenager. At the age of 17 he worked at his family's car-repair shop in San Miguel County, saving up money for college.

SAL'S EDUCATION

Sal went to college at Fort Lewis College in Durango, where he majored in Political Science and quickly became a campus community leader. Sal, who was always involved in student government, organized Get-out-the-vote campaigns on campus for the Democrats every November. He was later appointed by the State Board of Agriculture and Governor Romer to serve on the Presidential Search Committee to name the new college President at Fort Lewis College.

Sal followed up his Bachelor's degree going to graduate school at LSU, where he received a Master's Degree in American Political Theory. Sal paid for his school costs by tutoring students and being a teaching assistant.

FAMILY

Sal is happily married to Marlene Valdez Pace. They live with their son, Wyatt, in central Pueblo.
